If you happened to have driven by the Texoma Cowboy Church, last Sunday morning at around 9:00 AM, you’d have had to slow down, or perhaps stop, due to the large number of cars turning into the parking lot through the two iron gates. It was as if God was overlooking the scene, drawing His people in. Had you looked further, you’d have seen Riders on Grey Horses directing the cars to open parking spaces since parking was at a premium even as early as 9:30 for the 10:00 service. One could feel the presence of our Living God as people exited their cars and pickups and moved quickly toward the entrances to the church. Greeted at both doors, by members of the Hospitality Team, bulletins with information about today’s service, team meetings, names and phone numbers of the church leaders, the coming week’s meetings and additional information, were provided with smiles and handshakes. Once inside, one could hear the White Horse Gospel Band already playing. Coffee, juice, hot chocolate and donuts were being handed out as long as they lasted. Lay Pastors, recognizable in their embroidered shirts, continued to greet folks as they neared the entrances to the Barn. The Lay Pastors moved inside the Barn to assist folks in locating seats, which, by 9:45 were getting scarce. It was evident the Spirit of our Lord and Savior was drawing his children into this service and was preparing each for the marvelous message to come. As the Barn continued to pack, both the lower level as well as the bleacher seating in the balcony, the band continued its musical praises to our God. This day, each member of the White Horse Gospel Band, was performing as if anointed by God Himself. As the huge crowd settled in, and chairs in the foyer were brought in for the overflow where they would watch a televised feed from inside the Barn, anticipation grew, reaching a fevered pitch until the band played their last number with audience standing, hands clapping, cheers ringing out and then,. all ceased. Quiet reigned as Bro Jim took the platform and announced his text, The Gospel According to Saint Mark beginning with Chapter 16, verses 1 through 6 with his sermon based on the final verse. As our pastor finished reading verse 6, he prayed and God took over from that point on. Every word spoken was as if spoken by God. Throughout the sermon, which lasted a meager 30 minutes, applause and cheers erupted and interrupted the preaching of His word. And yet, at the conclusion of the sermon, which could have gone on indefinitely and no one would have complained, quiet reigned. It was evident that the words of our Living God had reached inside the hearts and souls of both believers and non-believers. I have to believe that many made their decision to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior during that final quiet prayer. How could one turn Him away? As the massive, record crowd of 1198 departed the church, they passed a large bake sale sponsored by the Hospitality Team. Cakes, pies, cookies, homemade candies were displayed and quickly snapped up by those departing. On the outside of the church, youngsters were greeted by thousands of colorful plastic eggs filled with candy treats. The laughter of the children drowned out the sounds of automobile and truck engines as they made their way slowly out of the parking area. As the church slowly emptied, as friends said their goodbyes to friends, as the Facilities Team picked up water bottles, cups and wrappers and moved trash bags to the dumpster, as Hospitality cleaned up their kitchen, as other team members completed their functions, as quiet gradually returned to the church, one could not help but stand back, think and look in awe at all that had happened this glorious day, Easter Sunday, 2010, at the Texoma Cowboy Church. It was as if a script has been written, cast, and directed by none other than God Himself. Most certainly, His spirit was felt in our midst throughout this day like no other day yet experienced at the “little church that grew”.

The 1st Annual TCC Ranch House School was held to teach about the structure and ministries within the Cowboy church. The day started out with a breakfast cooked by the Chuckwagon team, and the White Horse Gospel Band started out the General Session. Then several of our Lay Pastors spoke about the Cowboy Church structure and values. After the General Session, everyone broke out into different Round Pen Sessions. Team leaders and Lay Pastors taught different Round Pen Sessions about the different ministries in the Cowboy Church. A lunch was provided by the Hospitality team in between the Round Pen Sessions. A panel consisting of TCC Leadership held a question and answer session to wrap up the Ranch House School!
